Ph.D. Positions Available in Transportation Engineering
Position Description The Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department at Florida State University (FSU) is actively seeking four dedicated Ph.D. students to join our public transit research group, beginning Spring 2024. Ideal candidates should hold either a B.S. or a more preferable M.S. degree in fields like Transportation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, or an allied area. Fine scientific writing skills and fluency (both oral and written) in English are required. Other desired qualifications include (1) the determination to explore and break new ground; (2) keen research interests in optimization methods (e.g., linear programming, integer programming, nonlinear programming, probabilistic optimization, equilibrium models); and (3) considerable programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python, or other languages. About PI The PI Dr. Qianwen Guo has broad research interests in transportation optimization problems, especially in public transit, smart and shared mobility, and transportation resilience. Dr. Guo's work has been prominently featured in premier transportation journals, including Transportation Research Parts A, B, and C. Current research endeavors encompass the development of a Virtual-Reality lab for engineering education, resilience in bridge and road infrastructure networks, and strategies in public transit planning and operations.
